Objective

To encourage young people of African descent in our communities to continue their education so they may become better educated citizens. WHO QUALIFIES: Any high school senior of African descent in the metro Milwaukee area including Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington and Waukesha counties, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, will be considered.

The Scholarship

A one-time award of $500 in any field of study in a college.

Application Process

Applications are available from: Nigerian Community Center, and can be picked up any Friday evening from 7-9 P.M.; NCIM website (www.ncimusa.org ); or by writing to the NCIM President and should cover the following:

  • Biographical Information
  • Transcripts of high school grades
  • areer Goal Statement (approximately 100 words)
  • Honors and Awards
  • Essay on The African American Struggle for Higher Education (no more than 500 words)
  • Letter of recommendation from at least one of the following: guidance counselor, community leader or teacher
  • College Acceptance Letter

All completed applications should be returned to the NCIM Office: 8028 W. Appleton Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53218

The final selection is made by the NCIM Scholarship Committee with the approval of the NCIM general members. All decisions are final.
